Asana Teaching Style:

One of the principle of Govardhan School Yoga is YOGA AS IT IS i.e to bring back classical yoga as it was and teaching it in a proper atmosphere with inclusiveness about the whole process.

We believe that when Asanas are done in a non-competitive,relaxed environments and when performed correctly ,they not only relax the body but also relaxes the mind. This happens by the integration of rhythmic breath and awareness where the attentive faculty of mind is made active and is not allowed to wander into tension and stress.

Our teachers are trained from various traditional yoga schools like Yoga Vidya Gurukul,Sivananda Organisation,Mysore Ashtanga Yoga,S-vyasa etc and have proficiency in multiple asana styles like Classical Hatha Yoga,Ashtanga Vinyasa,Mysore style, Restorative,Gentle,Therapeutic yoga,pre-natal,chair yoga etc.

This wide experience allows our teachers to combine their skills and techniques into an eclectic approach and carefully observe the yoga aspirant to determine what is best for their individual bodies.

Our practical Asana and pranayam classes are based on scriptural references and methods as mentioned in Ancient Hatha Yoga and Patanjali Yog Sutra texts.

Our Yoga school has adapted and streamlined the entire practice which directly influences our “Koshas” or “Sheaths” . According to the Upanishads, our human nature is comprised of five different dimensions. They are namely :

  • Physical : Annamaya Kosha
  • Energy : Pranamaya Kosha
  • Mental : Manamaya Kosha
  • Wisdom : Vijnanamaya Kosha
  • Bliss : Anandamaya Kosha

The Panchkosha (Five Sheaths) approach is a unique way to our Asana and other Yogic practices which provides us with a road map for better understanding of our psychological and spiritual development.

Govardhan School of Yoga Asana style has the potential not only to heal someone from physical ailments but it also has a potential to build a strong foundation for experiencing dimensions of life and states of Higher consciousness.
